Add ability to set a timezone when setting availability / scheduling
Chris Tan
I see this as two separate but related features:
- Ability to set the timezone on availability, outside of your current timezone. Currently availability is based on the user's current timezone.
- Automatically updating the current timezone based on your computer's time
I think that feature 1 would be a pre-requisite for feature 2, since it'd be confusing if your availability changed automatically when travelling.

Chris Tan: Can you help me understand what "Set timezone on availability" means
Chris Tan
Daniel Murray: For sure. Here's a screenshot of my availability settings. Note that the timezone isn't shown. That's because it's the same as my account timezone (on this page https://cozycal.com/app/settings/account) which is currently set to Vancouver/PST.
Adding the ability to set the timezone on availability will allow the timezone to be set independently from your account's availability.
It would be useful for folks who are travelling across timezones.

Chris Tan: Hrmm, that may work, but isn't availability settings global to an event? What happens if this week I'm available in Seattle, but next week I'll be available in Chicago?... to make it super specific to my use case.
Chris Tan
Daniel Murray: That should work. Availability settings are currently tied to your account settings.
To be specific, there's two types of availability: office hours, and date + times. Feature #1 involves adding the ability to set a different timezone to both types of availability, separate to the one set on your account.
So if you were in Seattle, you would set your default office hours in Pacific time, then on your trip to Chicago, you'd set
holiday hours
in Central time.Daniel Murray
Chris Tan: I see, because I can only access "Availability Settings" from my event I figured it was an attribute of the event.
Assuming that "Holiday" office hours overwrite all other schedules, I think that implementation would work perfectly.

I've also noticed some other services:
– check your timezone when you open the service's website
– detect when it's different than what's set in your profile
– ask if you want to update it
Might be a nice compromise.
